Community Thursdays
Interested in sailing but not sure where to start?

Looking to make some new friends?

Want to experience Lake Pend Orielle from the water?

"Community Thursdays" are a great way to get involved and see what it's all about.

SSA welcomes you to join us in participating in a fun and casual race aboard sailboats belonging to club members.

We meet on the sidewalk above Fred's Deck at 5:30 for a brief informational meeting and to divide participants between boats.
*We do our best to get everyone on a sailboat, but sometimes we don't have the capacity to keep up with the demand. When that happens, you are welcome to join our race committee crew and watch the sailboats from our pontoon boat. Not a bad way to unwind on a weeknight.
From there, you'll join your skipper and fellow crew members and hit the water.

We aim to start the race at 6:00 and racing typically lasts an hour or so, but can sometimes run longer or shorter, depending on the weather and other factors. You will take an active role in sailing the boat under guidance from your skipper.

Once back on shore, you and your crewmates will help your skipper put sails and lines away.

After the boats are stowed, you are welcome to join us on Fred's Deck, where we typically have a cookout and social gathering.

SSA is firmly committed to providing community access to Lake Pend Orielle. Everyone is welcome to join us on Thursdays. No sailing experience is necessary, and club membership is not required (although encouraged for skippers and regular participants).

Thursday night racing begins on the THIRD Thursday in June and ends on the second Saturday in September. There are 13 races during the summer, with the final race taking place on a Saturday.

We hope to se you there!
